Amy's Here!

Miss Amy McHenry herself has come to visit! It's been a blur of activities and customs checkpoints as we've taken in a record number of sights, venturing to China and Macau and seeing everything there is to see in Hong Kong just about. Here she is on a gorgeous day up at the Peak.

We're taking good care of the ol' girl--even seeing to it that she got a nice ginger wrap massage in China. Ahhhh...

We visited Bruce's swanky work digs in the People's Republic...

Taking in the sights in wild and crazy Danshui...

We had a lovely Szechuan dinner in Danshui. Jane, our Szechuan diplomat and friend, did all the ordering. Patty's back there pulling the heads off of baby shrimps and loving it.

We made a pit stop at the Wishing Tree in Tai Po. How it works is, you get a piece of paper that is tied to an orange, you write your wish on the paper, and then you try to toss it up into the Wishing Tree. If it sticks your wish comes true. Here's Bruce having a go...

He misses!

One more try...

He sticks it! You are also supposed to light incense as well. It's all quite festive.

We spent a soggy day in Macau, a former Portugese colony in China. These are the ruins of an old Portugese cathedral.

Bruce and Patti took in one of the Macau casinos and won!

By Monday the weather was crisp and gorgeous. We ventured by ferry out to Lantau Island to check out the Big Buddha. It's haunting and amazing and, well, big!

Big Buddha friends.

Big Buddha tree.

We also stopped for a vegetarian lunch at the Buddhist monastery, yum...

We caught some beautiful light at Stanely on the South Side of HK Island. Notice Amy's new jacket. A purchase from the bargain hunter's heaven Lowu Commercial Center in China. I found the PERFECT Hermes knockoff there. You cannot tell the difference!

Awe, me and mom basking in the Stanley glow.

Crazy hair, at the aforementioned Peak.

No trip to Hong Kong is complete without a visit to the elegant Penninsula Hotel for high tea and finger food. So much more to tell...and we are all flying home together Thursday! See you soon!
